WITH HORSES

HORSEMANSHIP COURSE
______________
There is so much more to being with horses than just riding.
How do I know my horse likes me?
How do I know when my horse is sick?
What do I do when my horse is injured?
How do I get my horse to do something new?
How can I just BE with my horse?

Learn in detail about horsemanship:

-
How to catch a horse correctly, how to lead them and how to behave around horses in a safe way.
-
How to take care of Horses: including grooming, washing, rugging and feeding
-
How to tack up a horse correctly for lunging, for vaulting and for riding
-
How to put on boots and bandages correctly
-
How to perform basic first aid for horses ( vital signs, caring for wounds, worming etc)
-
How to train horses: ground work techniques and how to lunge a horse
All the above will be taught through practical hands on work with our horses, via theory lessons combined with fun games and each person’s own EVE hand book, which we fill out, colour in and you can take home for reference.

WHY SHOULD I/ MY CHILD ATTEND?
_________________
-
Because you/ your child LOVES horses: Learn more about horses besides riding.
-
Because you/ they want to learn how to be with Horses: We will learn things normal schools don't teach : learning to be with horses is all about learning how to be with 'ourselves'. We need to be relaxed, settled and self confident for our horse to trust us and understand us. At EVE we teach kids in a playful way ( through partner exercises and games) how to be exactly that.
-
Because you/ they want to learn something new: Great! EVE has the first Horsemanship Program on the Mornington Peninsula.( one whole day or after school for a whole term) It incorporates horse care, horse training, teamwork, friendship, games and crafts.
-
Because you/ they want to learn things formal riding lessons don’t teach you: Usually you come to your lesson, your horse is mostly tacked up, you jump on, you have your riding lesson and then you leave the horse with a groom in the stable. But what happens behind the scenes? How does my horse live? What do they do all day? What does a horse need?
-
Because you/ your child wants to own their ‘own horse’ some day: What is all involved in owning a horse? What does my horse need every day? How do I take care of it? How do I train it? What do I do if my horse is sick? How much time do I need to invest every day?
-
Because You/ your child already knows how to ride, but has never trained a horse or lunged a horse before: Our Horsemanship Program is designed for exactly that.
-
Because you/ they loves horses, tried riding, but too scared to control a horse by your/ themselves or because you/ they fell off or.....: Learn all about how to “BE” with horses. There is so much more to being with horses than just riding. Learning about Horses improves your confidence around horses and can help you get back into the saddle.
-
Because we’ve all spent too much time indoors throughout all the lockdowns: At EVE we are active, outside in nature, with horses and our soon to be like minded friends. (note: there are also dogs and cats at EVE- in case you/ your child is afraid, or allergic to dogs or cats, please let us know ahead of time and we can seperate them)
